Meet The Real Shelter Dogs of New Jersey … And Then Go Adopt One!

Hope you have an appetite for cute dogs!

When we think of The Real Housewives of New Jersey we think of food: cookbooks, pizza restaurants, throwing lunchmeat, and smashed cakes as far as the eye can see.

But New Jersey isn’t just about literally feeding your stomach; it’s also about feeding your soul, specifically with this heartwarming dose of precious, adoptable dogs from Home for Good Dog Rescue.

The Home for Good Dog Rescue is a 100% foster-based, non-profit dog rescue established in 2010 with offices in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. They rescue homeless dogs from high-kill shelters in the South that are overflowing with unwanted dogs on the brink of being euthanized. They then socialize, care for, and provide the rescued puppers with life-saving medical care at their property in Aiken, SC and transport them to their rescue in New Jersey where they will be nurtured by a network of foster families while waiting for adoption into loving forever homes (and then fed copious amounts of treats, as is the New Jersey way).

And now meet your Real Shelter Dogs, complete with opening-credits worthy taglines!

"Adopt me and we'll be as thick as thieves." - Big Red

Big Red is friendly and outgoing 2.5-year-old boxer/coonhound mix who absolutely adores people and falls in love with everyone he meets. If there's one thing you can count on Big Red to do, it's to greet you with a hug! Thanks to Big Red's calm, gentle, and affectionate demeanor, he would be amazing in a home with kids.

"I act like a puppy but think like a boss." - Summer

Summer is a 2-year-old Labrador retriever mix and has an affectionate personality and would do great in a more active home where she could be queen of her castle. She loves to run around her foster's fenced-in backyard chasing tennis balls. She's also a fan of chasing pesky squirrels and birds, but she knows how to control herself when walking on the leash.

"Everyone likes to have squeak toys, but I'm not one to brag about it." - Mike

Mike is a playful, loving, and adorable 4-month-old black lab mix. He gets along very well with other dogs, cats, and children too. He is a big fan of squeaky toys and tennis balls and is already making great strides in housebreaking and leash walking.

"I was raised Jersey strong, nothing in this life can shake me, not even cats." - Topp

Topp is a 4-month-old shepherd/hound mix. He is a reserved pup at first, as he has never felt a gentle hand. However, with some love and cuddles, he opens up. He loves other dogs and truly thrives in the company of other animals. He also gets along well with cats and kids and cannot wait to find a loving, easygoing home where he can thrive.

"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, I will still try to chase the tennis ball you pretended to throw." - Alice

Alice is a 4-month-old chocolate lab mix with the best personality. She is so lovable and very affectionate once she knows she can trust you. Alice is also more submissive and loves other dogs who can lead the way. Some of this girl' favorite past times are chasing tennis balls and playing in the swimming pool.

"Puppers gonna pup, but I just love, love, love." - Kiera

Kiera is a 1-year-old lab mix with an exuberant and outgoing when the time is right, especially when playing with her favorite stuffed toys, but after a long day of play, she is just as happy curling up to her foster mom for a well-deserved nap. She is also amazing with kids! Her foster mom describes the time Kiera met her grandchildren as "love at first sight." This complete sweetheart doesn't have a mean bone in her body and just wants to love and be loved.
